A car has come up, these cars aren't exactly common as muck, and this ones cheap because its got moon mileage, however its about an hour and a half away, its at a dealership so im guna ring up and ask questions before hand, such as if the car comes with a warrenty, what does it cover, condition of the interior and roof, etc etc. Anyone got any advice on this or am I just being paranoid?

Not quite sure what you mean by paranoid, its not like you are just handing over money blind?

Just treat it as a day out, if possible try and find somewhere else you want to go that is either nearby, or en-route.

Of course asking about condition et-al is advisable before travelling, but just be aware that at the end of the day, these guys are salesmen, and as a result they might not be 100% accurate with their descriptions ;)

One quick tip:

Usually just asking about the condition of the car in general on the phone gets no useful response. The dealer will inevitably reply "great, mint, no dents" even if there are dents and scratches, just to come and get you to view the car.

Ask him specifically - are there any scratches or dents on the bonnet? No, OK, how about the front drivers side wing? OK, the drivers door? Rear panel? etc. The dealer should be far less likely to tell porkies if you're asking him to describe in specific detail.

I drove 6 hours each way to buy a car in January, i just asked for photos of everything that was at fault with the car and large pictures overall of it so had a good idea of what it would be like myself when i turned up.

Was a little more scuffed than it looked like but nothing i hadnt expected for its age really, went down with a friend so i had someone else to talk to/drive it back!

southend to southport.... about 350 miles or something stupid.

just turn up and look at it.

tbh though, i would never trust a dealer, not even if my life depended on it

bloody hate dealers. wouldnt trust one with as far as i could throw them.

a silly friend of mine was buying an escort (told you she wasnt all there) and it was from a dealer. it had a grumbling wheel bearing and he was telling me they were all like that

all full of ****

her 'scort then eventually popped a head gasket
