Travelling.

Me too please, Florida, 16th September, coming back 30th September.

Thanks ;)

To the dude flying in June, man up, thats like one of the cheapest times of year to fly to Florida, save it for someone who really needs it, like me! ;)

How thoughtful of the OP. I would be looking for flights from Gatwick to Cape Town next easter would that be too far in advance?

Lets hope they don't come knocking, quizing you about your friends from all over the UK.

Be careful, you don't wanna get the sack.

If all is well though, a very cool thing to do.

Why do British people love Florida so much? Not to poop on anyone's vacation plans but seriously it's a crime infested third world dump and the last place I would visit in America, and I live here.

I lived in Orlando for over 2 years and it is also a dump. Have a soft spot for bits of florida but in general it is full of morons.

I went to Naples over Chrismas and thought it was one of the cleanest, friendliest and crime free places I'd ever visited.

Florida is not just Miami though, it has a lot more to offer than Disney. You just don't go to Miami, and I wouldn't know why anyone would want to. To be fair, it is the Britain of America though ;)

Naples, as in Naples in Italy? Granted I cant speak from Florida (never been there) but on my last visit to Naples in 2009 I though it was a complete dump!

Have you been there?

Been 3 times and never had a problem myself. You could do a search on your hometown and find lots of bad press I'm sure.

If you don’t like it because you have been there and found it terrible simple don’t go back. I have been many places that others love but I hated I don’t ask them why they love it because everyone is different and will have different experiences while being there.

Side note all the place you have linked I have never been to in Florida hence maybe why I still like.

orlando is a bit of a dump but i thought tampa was nothing short of magic, well, the places i went were. miami and naples were great too.

In every major city in the US you're only a couple of wrong turns away from a ghetto/barrio. Just remember that. It's like South Africa Lite. The tourist/business district is clean in Cape Town too.

There's a reason why 987,000 Florida residents have concealed handgun licenses.

Edit: that's 7% of the adult (over 18) population of florida feel unsafe enough to go through the hassle and expense of getting licensed to carry a handgun. If you consider the fact that you need to be over 21 and have a clean record it's more like 10-15% (of those who are actually eligible).

as i said I've got a soft spot for parts of FLA (st Augustine, Ocala, Naples and many others). I just didn't like living there (particularly as I was skint so lived somewhere cheap and full of scumbags). Crack, hillbillies and racial tensions make for a good weekend but wear thin after a while.

Just like LA. Quickest route out of the city is to follow your satnav and just not stop at any red lights. Partly because, you start to recognise street names from rap songs, and pretty much don't want to hang about!

So why is Florida so bad if the whole of the US is like that?

However I understand what you're saying. I stayed at a friends Condo rather than in the touristy places and really liked the place.

Just curious to see how many of you guys travel around the world on a regular basis?

I work for Virgin Atlantic and would like to see if I can get you savings on flights with my mates rates, just giving something back to the community that has given me more than enough help over the last few months!

I'm going to kuala lumpur in mid January, would love to go with virgin!
