Travelodge - nothings simple

If Travelodge were any good they would have transferred it over.

I don't know what you can do about it...not a lot probably but thanks for the heads up for a company to avoid.

My mum has made a lot of mistakes ordering stuff online and then realized it when she had a confirmation email through. She has called the company and every single one has laughed it off and changed it to what she wanted.

Thats my point exactly. I know its my mistake, i also know Travelodge dont have to rectify my mistake but if they wanted to they could have and it could have been done 30secs after i made it !

Like i say i dont want my money back (couldnt anyway due to the TC's of the booking) i just a transfer. I will need to go over the TC's a bit more to see what they say.

No offence but your mum sounds a tad slow. Seriously how do you get a wrong order when the confirmation is more or less identical to the Shopping Bag, review page(s) and whatever else?

You would think for £69 they'd be able to transfer them non-refundable non-changable saver or not (though clearly if you pulled that on an Airline or Train at £30 or £8 theres prob no chance) but just how did you book it wrong? They always state to check your bookings to make sure its correct if you can't change it. I have no idea where either place is but if they are quite close, whats the issue? (assuming you have a car)

Well she is 70 and you know what women are like... if the page is slow they click the link again thinking they didn't click it properly the first time round and before you know it two of the same item is placed in the basket e.t.c

Their booking software was made in india from a spec written by somebody who doesn't do the bookings job and wrote it to 'what should happen'. He didn't need to ask the poor oiks on the phone because he's a manager and they are oiks.

Due to a poorly written contract it will now cost them the same again to make this small modification so the result is you get fobbed off.

(This is speculation, but I bet it's not far off)

sounds a bit like a large government project to me... however it cannot be because you never stated it cost 4x what was quited and never worked properly anyway.

People are mentioning the Distance Selling Regulations - which relate to your right to CANCEL.

...

Travelodge are under NO legal obligation whatsoever to make any changes to his booking .. Any mention of the DSR in this thread is completely irrelevent and complete red herring. It does not relate to the OP's situation in the slightest.

Cancelling and re-booking will get him where he wants, why do you have to be so pedantic all the time?

DSR may not apply, I don't know, if it's going to inconvenience him massively it's got to be worth a few minutes of his time to ring consumer direct though surely? Do you not think?

Jeeze have a bit more sympathy. Some people are so busy being pedantic and taking a moment to laugh at someone who's booked the wrong hotel to, er..

But the point is he cannot cancel and rebook. Ringing consumer direct is a waste of a phone call, what do you hope to achieve there? They will just tell him the same thing - none of the consumer rights apply to this situation.

The only option open to him is goodwill from the company. That's it.

credit card chargeback imo.
And how do you propose to do that? Lie to the CC company? Hope Travelodge don't dispute the chargeback?

Like it or not the OP agreed to these conditions when booking the rooms:

Changing your Booking
With any saver room rate Booking (or sale rate), subject to availability and conditions(the room must be the same rate at the same Hotel), you may change the scheduled date of arrival and/or the room type. You will pay the change fee for each change made. It is not possible to upgrade your room type or room rate

Believe me I do have a lot of sympathy and would have hoped Travelodge would fix such an obvious mistake.

I spent 3 nights in the Preston branch last weekend. Each day my key card was cancelled despite them telling me it "should" be valid for the whole stay. It generally left me ringing on the door at midnight waiting for the night staff to reappear.

After an experience like this, you probably wouldn't want to use Travelodge again, and this story will be in the back of people's minds who read this forum when they need to book a hotel of their own.

Yep I'll remember this story when I'm next booking a travel lodge and laugh as I choose the correct hotel!

What happens if there was an error with the booking form and you ended up with 22 rooms booked instead of 2? Do they still say tough you can't have a refund?

I think there might have been a problem with their website which could explain how you ended up with a room in the wrong travelodge. You should call them to explain their mistake ;)

Result, they are allowing me to cancel my current reservation and are going t credit me with a £62 evoucher to enable me to rebook the Hotel i meant to book in the first place. They have also said that they will be implementing the facility to change your hotel sometime in the near future instead of having to cancel completely and lose your money if booked on a saver rate.

All im waiting for now is confirmation that the rooms i want at the correct hotel will remain available during time i cancel my current reservation and the evoucher being credited to my Travelodge account
