Travis Barker

wow never thought id see a Travis flame thread here on OcUK haha. I've been a member on the Pearl Dummers Forum for about 6 years now and these threads pop up weekly.

He really seems to be the marmite of drumming though. Definately not the best drummer etc. but has some sort of appeal and unfortunately has a huge fanboy following.

Theres one guy i saw who hasnt jsut ripped off Travis' playing style and kit layout but has gone to the extent of duplicating a lot of his tattoos, idiot.
 
Personally I think it's just the same as playing a guitar behind your head, just a bit of showmanship. He's not the greatest drummer but he's also miles from rubbish.

Heh, I remember the outcry when Tom Delonge dared to be given a signature model by Fender... Which instantly became the best selling Fender signature model, and the best selling Fender other than the Mexi standard. But HOW DARE HE! He's not even a proper muso! He just plays music people listen to, what a pleb :D
 
i love soulja boy anyway, but the travis barker version's amazing, i've been addicted to it for about 5 weeks now :)

I also like travis as a drummer, ever since i first heard him on the "take off your pants and jacket" album, love the drumming on story of a lonely guy...i know its nothing special.
 
I've watched a lot of drumming video's, and it's really all a matter of taste and style. Some of the jazz drum solos I have watched are fantastic but really not my kind of thing, but they're technically sound and extremely well made up. Travis Barker is by far and away a good drummer, not the best, but he's damn good anyway and he is showing that he isn't afraid to experiment with various musical styles. That video is really good and you can just tell by the way that he's playing that he really enjoys what he's doing. At the end of the day, he has still made far more money than the majority of us on here doing something he loves, and I'm fairly certain that he couldn't give a monkeys whether we think he's the best drummer or not :)
