Tread Depth

I replace mine when they hit the tread depth indicators on the tyre's themselves. I don't actually know what they're set to.
 
I have the annoying problem of 3 different tyre brands on my car, can't afford to replace them all. Back end has a fair bit of tread, left one a lot more than the right. The fronts are really bad though, will be getting them done when I get paid as winter is looming, can't believe its almost october already :o Kuhmo KU31s look like the best option .
 
Once any part of the tyre gets to around 2mm I'd replace both of the tyres on that axel.

As they're runflats and cost £200+ each, I would hope not to have to replace 4 at once.

You will do eventually though - ie with me I found that on my 3rd set of rears I needed a new set of fronts at the same time.
 
Dumb question but do tyres "go off"? I don't do many miles in my car and I can't even remember how far back I changed them (has to be years, possibly 2-3 or more).

The fronts are probably around 2-3mm depth now but close inspection of the rubber shows cracks, etc and quite frankly they seem of late to be particularly crappy grip wise.

Yup, I had some Dunlop sports on mine, and they were degraded. UV light degrads rubber, as does oils and detergents.

I'll probably use it as an excuse to change to non-runflats :)
