Hi. The belt on my cheap treadmill is too abrasive and hence is wearing down my shoes an unacceptable rate of attrition. Any ideas on how I can make it less abrasive? Maybe a coat of dilute PVA glue?

I'm not denying that you need the thing to provide a certain level of grip for your shoes. I am just concerned that it is a bit too rough and is hence resulting in unnecessary wear on my shoes. Obviously if it was like a 60 grit belt sander it would provide great grip but would wear your shoes down like nobodies business. I just feel it is too abrasive that's all and want to see what options are available to help.

For the people who asked - I use vibrams five finger training shoes (most expensive shoes I have purchased in my life) as I am trying to rebuild my fallen arches. As for providing a coating to the shoe - what are the options? I like the idea of an adhesive I can daub on. Would a 2-part epoxy be a good idea?
