if your gonna do serious running make sure it'll take 120kg or so and goes to 10mph minimum. the 8mph 100kg ones wont hack proper running. Also my gut tells me that motorised incline on cheaper (sub £1k~) 'mills must be a bad idea. But thats cynical opinion. Oh and most importantly of all, dont think having a treadmill at home will make you more likely to exercise, if you cant be bothered to go to the gym or run outside you WON'T stick to running on a treadmill, it'll be another clothes horse.
Having said which ive just bought one myself and i have good reasons that are not aversion to gyms or lack of enthusiasm, so im not gonna prejudge you. Have fun!

My local gym is too far away and my knees are badly torn up through football injuries to be comfortably running on concrete, so i thought the treadmill would absorb some of the pressure.
