Just in from the garden, got the new chainsaw out and took down 14 odd trees that were in a row at the back of the garden they had just got out of control and ended up 20Ft roughly so they were blocking the sun etc.

does anyone know what to do to the stumps left at the ground to stop them growing back.? Or will they just die off.?

Thanks :)

Why didnt you just trim the tops and tidy it up a bit?

Seems a bit drastic to just chop them down..

it at the Mothers house, he just wanted them gone and a new fence up instead, plus if i just trip them down ill have to keep going back and forth doing so lol and im just lazy :p

and they grow like there's no tomorrow, it was they conifer trees not your average tree. Been out there since 8 this morning

It sounds like you have gone on a nature rampage just to test your new chainsaw tbh.
20ft high trees blocking out sun??? You're from Scotland, you don't have sun.

I hope you planted 14 more trees elsewhere and checked to see if there were any
birds nest in there before you cut the others down.

Pics, or it didn't happen.

I'm a lumberjack and I'm ok...

erm, we do have sun, just the same amount as yous lot in England.

why would i plant more if i wanted rif of them.? well mum mum did anyway, i couldn't care less if they were there or not. they were right at the side of the patio blocking the sun in the mornings.

so :D

Ripping them out is going to be one hell of a job and leave a massive hole. Cut some hatching into the tops and wee on them to stimulate moulds etc. like they did back in the day :p

I prescribe dynamite.

I like this idea :D

um i would and have tried digging them up but they are massive and would have to take all my patio up to achieve this, which is not going to happen.

The mother is going to be planting around them anyway, there's about 3/4ft from the wall to the patio so there will be some new plants going in when the fence is erected to *be green* just don't want to put the fence up and they grow back and mess with the post foundations...

You should get yourself a job in a rainforest.

Stop being a plank...

Ditto. Good contribution to the thread..l can see why your thread count is so high.

You fail.

That's a good one. However, I'm not the one asking on a computer forum what to do with stumps leftover from a botched tree felling.

I hope you suffer subsidence of some sort.

Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.

in fact, what is your problem? do you just go about these forums looking to cause trouble and annoy people.?

Very sad

Couldn't agree more Kenny, why both spitzoid? If you have nothing or worth to add to a thread, why post in it?

Aye, my dad recently pulled out a relatively small stump and that was a fairly hard job that took him most of a day to dig out, cut the roots he could reach and then lever out.

From memory there is something you can buy that you drill a large hole into the trunk, and pour the stuff into it and it helps speed up the rotting of the trunk? (I guess even just drilling a few half inch holes would do something similar).
