i currently have 2 ati 6950 bios flashed to 6970 but memory timings running 6950 timings. im going to get the asus 6970 for a tri fire setup.
will these cards work because the 6970 will have different memory timings.
thx in reponse. the asus card wont flash none ref.

Crossfire 2 cards - yes.

Quad Fire - 2 dual GPU cards - yes.

Tri Fire - 1 dual GPU card, 1 single GPU card - probably.

Tri Fire 3 cards - probably not.

The reference to Eyefinity in the sig. suggests the OP is running at high resolution.

Dazboots - I assume you're buying a reference 6970 so it can be watercooled as well?

im running 5800x1080 eyefinity. dont think they will be bottleneck with cpu @ 4.8 ghz

I have a 2600k @4.8GHZ and Trifire.. 2X 6950's and 1x 6970 all running as 6970's but only gave me a few more points in 3dmarks from stock to flashed.. any way my scores are
1x 6970 P5714 @ 16x PCIE

3X 6970 P12231 @ 8X8X4X PCIE

It will be fine, from what i could tell the new drivers run the 6970 at 800mhz like your 6950's but when in games the clock speed will go up to the 6970 default speed and the 50's will stay at there default speeds, i could be wrong but this is how it shows up underload on my g15 lcd..
