I think it depends on the Tri-Fire combination used.
So far i have only seen the 5970+5870 users saying that its not working.

like i say, i've only tried it with l4d2 so far. i was getting around 120-150 fps with everything maxed (8xAA and at a res of 6100x1200), now i'm getting 160-190 fps.

All of my gpu's are running at 950/1200 clocks :)

hehe, well my steam list is 93 games strong :D

once i've got this uni work sorted for today, i'll have a little look at some other games. i'll report back this evening on it :)

With previous drivers I was only getting 20fps in BC2 & Dirt 2 with a res of 5760x1200. This was with a 5970 + 5870 on stock.

Now with these latested previews I am getting about 60-80 fps in BC2 and about 60-70 in Dirt 2.

It is not a lot better than just the 5970 but its an improvement. I must also state that until I get my water cooling installed I am running my 5870 on my 3rd pci-e slot which is only x8

hi rancid

to clarify, your 5870 is actualy improveing performance?
or is it about the same?

also which drivers are we talking about? im running 10.4 atm

Right with a single screen gaming the 5870 adds a hell of a lot. In Eyefinity it only adds about 5-10% performance increase. This is somethign I hope they fix.

At least now I am not getting 20fps max on any game in eyefinity as I was before.

Driver wise I am using the last preview drivers I saw on here.. 15's I think

Technically it works and does not bog the framerate as it used to (now on 10.4 drivers) but I still play BC2 on Eyefinity on the 5970 only as it is smoother than when adding the 5870, Dirt and unigine show small fps improvements in tri-fire but still the 5970 feels smoother ... so no worth while gain yet but definitely improving!

Ok a noob question or confirmation really

I've just moved up to a 5970 from 2 x 5870's. I was about to sell the remaining 5870 but I take it if I was a real "wild child" I could just "cross" it into the 5970 to make a hybrid Triple XFire???
No adjustment to the clock speed etc?

I'm waiting for my active adaptor for 3 screen Eyeinfinity but run 2 x 24" screens off the 5970 at the mo... hence the interest in what you guys are doing :)

yes u can.

Also something to think about guys.

I decided to stick the 5850 in the PCI-E 1 and the 5970 is PCI-E 2.

I did this so i could see the 5970 all the time as its the best looking tbh :P

BUT this forced me to have to plug in my monitors to the 5850, I felt that this would slow my games down???

But in just cause 2 it was fine, apart from feeling slightly funny.. looked choppy in placed but i will put that down to bad drivers for tri-fire at the moment.

is there anyway to have my monitors run off the 5970? as i could like to disable the 5850 in some games as the choppy ness is to much.
