Tri-Fire, Fixed with eyefinity?

yes u can.

Also something to think about guys.

I decided to stick the 5850 in the PCI-E 1 and the 5970 is PCI-E 2.

I did this so i could see the 5970 all the time as its the best looking tbh :P

BUT this forced me to have to plug in my monitors to the 5850, I felt that this would slow my games down???

But in just cause 2 it was fine, apart from feeling slightly funny.. looked choppy in placed but i will put that down to bad drivers for tri-fire at the moment.

is there anyway to have my monitors run off the 5970? as i could like to disable the 5850 in some games as the choppy ness is to much.

dunno if your motherboard will have this option, but on mine you can specify which pci-e slot will be used as primary.

Hmm, if I had a 5850 in the primary slot, then a 5970 in the second, would I still be able to disable crossfire? I was thinking of doing this as I play a few old games, and I know crossfire doesn't improve the performance in them.
And I'm curious, on three 24" at 1080p each, how well does trifire scale up to compared to a 5850 with the latest drivers?

yeah you'd still be able to disable crossfire, that isn't dependant on which slots you're using. i've got my monitors plugged into my 5970, as when i run a game which doesn't like crossfire, it'll still work fine with just the 5970.

as for scaling, it's difficult to say. a lot would depend on how well a game is optimised for multi gpu etc
