That's how to use the Alien Isolation profile for TriFire. We'll have this fixed in a driver coming very soon.
Make sure Crossfire is enabled as it works fine here Techen. Might be worth trying to reinstall the 14.9.1 drivers too just incase something is amiss somewhere.
Here are some of my results using this profile from the Alien Isolation bench thread which show excellent scaling from 1-4 cards at 4K.

I did a clean wipe using DDU and installed 14.9.1 because I was having problems with all 3 cards running. With the clean wipe and new drivers it runs any game crossfire prefect but things like BF4 and alien don't see any improvements.
BF4 on all 3 cards dips down to like 40-50fps
Where is alien will sit at 50, then 40 and sit around 40fps..
Is there a issue with them being two different cards? One being a 295x2 and one being a 290x? It's a reference card as well so I expected them to have no problem at all but I feel its not helping anything.

Are you running those games in full screen mode? Because crossfire does not work in windowed mode!
Have you disabled ULPS? Might be worth taking a look at my crossfire thread. It will show you how to bring up an overlay which makes dissecting the problem a whole lot easier. You can see if all gpu's are getting good usage etc.
As for your question no, they should work fine together.
They might show as getting usage, but the 2nd/3rd card will be stuck in 2d mode. Run full screen mode (not windowed or borderless windowed) and crossfire will work properly. Only in Mantle titles can you run windowed/boarderless crossfire.

Anyway, yea BF4 still runs like crap on fullscreen with 3 cards.
52 Fps on a good day, 35-40fps normally on any map. Ultra settings. 1080p screen. Kinda expected more ? Lol

After the latest update i was getting the same issue, so i quit Afterburner and restarted the game and was back to a smooth 60fps Vsync, i then updated to the latest official AB and still enjoying a smooth 60fps Vsync.
It did help, I rarely go under 60fps but its still no use. Considering it dips below 60fps on one screen and I wanna play BF4 ultra on 3 1080p screens. Is this just not possible with 3 GPUS? Do I need 4? Tad terrible and also the flicker is really starting to annoy me ¬,..,¬
