Where's the good quality video mentioned in the OP? When I click on the link, I get low quality grainy images of a V-shaped image that suddenly appears on a few frames with a great deal of magnification.

Could be an artefact of software zooming.

Could be an object somewhere in the very large distance between the camera and the ash cloud. An object that flies in a V formation. Like a flock of birds.

Could be a momentary result of reflection off dust particles.

Could be an incredibly clever conspiracy, so clever that it's deliberately made as utterly implausible and ridiculous as possible so that anyone who somehow manages to obtain this beyond top secret knowledge just looks like a fool.

Obviously the last one. I'm in awe of the supreme cunning of our Secret Alien Overlords.

If it was DARK!! how are you seeing the object?

Are you now suggesting that it's a UFO that has its running lights on to ensure that the people in the other UFOs flying around there can see it? Why would they need that in a UFO? Surely they would be able to fly by instrumentation in the dark.

You can't zoom a camera into something. You zoom a camera towards something. Anything in front of the camera in that direction will show up. Including, in this example, a flock of birds flying a safe distance from the cloud.

How do you know it was 30 metres away? To be sure of that, you'd have to measure the distance.

If it was moving at speeds way beyond anything we have on earth right now, you wouldn't be able to see it at all. Many objects can move fast enough to be invisible to the human eye.

What's with the disk shape for "alien" spaceships? It's not very efficient for atmospheric flight and outside of an atmosphere shape is irrelevant.
 
I gotta say, if I was the commander of a fleet of UFOs flying in formation over Iceland, I would definitely have the fleet fly into the hot ash, if not just to show the superior build of our skyships compared to those of the UK but also for the sheer hell of it.

It makes perfect sense.

Yeah why the hell not..... yeah probably just testing their armour/build against the volcanic ash/heat or whatever was coming out. It does make perfect sense.
