Tribes fans ...

yep. been out a while through instantaction.com . they added a down jet button too so you have more movement than just mavity pulling you back to the ground. downside is energy seems to run out a lot faster than in t1 or t2.

swap the default keybindings for jet and ski if your an old tribes player, took me about 20mins to figure out what was wrong.

the tribalwars mod for quakewars looks pretty damn good too.
 
just played this. not sure I like it. weapons seem ineffective apart from the laser thing which is a point and kill weapon. it's also a pain when you're loading the game and it all goes ***s up before you get to join. only works in firefox/ie atm and is a bit like quake live...........but with about 1/1000th of the players. when I was on, only one server with more than 1 player on and that had 5

It did indeed. Especially back then when I was on 56k and waiting for the off peak times to come round.

Nothing like raiding a base in one of those flying people carrier vehicles. A couple of heavy guys bombarding the turrets on the opposing team base while a couple of lights drop down to raid it. Its pity hardly any games have re-created that sort of immersion and team work built into one. Battlefield games come close but the infantry combat was no where near as good.
 
Tribes still remains my all time fave game. Thankfully no other game has ever quite grabbed me with the play till dawn without realising it bug and life has gone on :) Still have the original game with config files on a portable HDD for nostalgia reasons.

God, that was ten years ago now on the trusty 56k connection & voodoo graphics card.

Mine disk for the win.
