Hey guys, i have been playing guitar for a few months now, and have learnt some basic songs (blink 182 and oasis ones mainly). Im now trying to learn 'move along' by the all american rejects.

and in all the tabs I can find, theres this chord which confused the carp out of me. Is it a mistake? Is this chord possible to play lol?

That's a barre chord. Pretty much a standard in guitar playing. Might be a bit awkward at first. If you can't get the hang of it then you may as well give up on the guitar.

Use you index finger to cover all strings on the 6th fret, then little and ring fingers on the 8th fret, leaving your middle on the 7th fret.

Thats A#maj/Bbmaj.............either one, it doesnt matter

that shape can be used anywhere on the fretboard.

and say you used that same shape on the 3rd fret.. it would be Gmaj... or moved it up to the 8th fret... it would be Cmaj

Whatever the root note is.. i.e the note the first finger is on the E string .. thats what the chord is.

that shape is a major shape

Dude, that one's not so bad - it's a standard major chord, Bb. Use your first finger to fret all six strings at the sxth fret, then your ring (aka third) finger for the fifth string, your little (aka fourth) finger for the fourth string and your middle (aka second) finger for the third string.
