TRIM and my SSD

First off, sorry if this makes me sound absolutely clueless (i actually am), and if it has been answered elsewhere.

So i've recently just purchased a Vertex2E SSD and i've heard i need to use TRIM software, however everywhere i've looked people have said to run a command in prompt and make sure it is actually working, the notes on my SSD also state "TRIM support"

I'd just like someone to clear this up for me, is there somewhere i should be looking where i have to manually run this "TRIM"

to summarize, is TRIM automatic or do i have to run it similar to a defrag (i know not to defrag btw)

thanks in advance

It is automatic, but for best results leave your PC switched on but logged off overnight, it will trim while it is idle in this state. This is after you have changed your power settings to make the hard disks never shutdown and also make the pc never sleep. Advice is to do this a couple of times a week to keep the ssd in optimum state.
