Trim

if your running on the ahci then trim is automatically enabled

if your on ide then you will need to do it yourself once a week with the toolbox

Run command prompt as admin.

fsutil behavior query DisableDeleteNotify

if the result is '0' TRIM is enabled.

This is wrong, TRIM is not dependant on ACHI. The OS and SSD have to support it, ACHI does not have to be enabled.

in windows 7 trim support is automatic in ahci...is it not?

The SSD just has to be TRIM enabled for Windows 7 to activate TRIM, dosen't matter if its in ACHI or IDE mode, RAID mode is a different kettle of fish. I've got a few older mobos that don't have ACHI mode but TRIM is enabled in Win 7 as the SSDs support TRIM. I've got one machine with no SATA ports onboard and a PCI Promise SATA150 TX2 controller as well with a Vertex LE 50gb in single mode operation, even with that, TRIM is on.

i have 2 intel x25m raid0 and it still seems to collect the garbage...there as good today as when i raided them a year ago :D even though its not supposed to work in raid mode

Even if TRIM is not enabled it won't affect performance AS BAD as people make it out to be. I've used a clients laptop with a Samsung PM800 64gb 70%+ full that didn't support TRIM and was on Vista 32 for about what, 2 years without any utility etc.. Still benched close to its rated numbers.
