if your running on the ahci then trim is automatically enabled
if your on ide then you will need to do it yourself once a week with the toolbox
This is wrong, TRIM is not dependant on ACHI. The OS and SSD have to support it, ACHI does not have to be enabled.
in windows 7 trim support is automatic in ahci...is it not?
all good ssd support it in windows 7
in ide you have to take out your own garbage with the toolbox....
as far as i knew this is the case..if im wrong i apologise for giving bad advice
i know i didnt exactly say this in my first post but this is what i ment![]()
The SSD just has to be TRIM enabled for Windows 7 to activate TRIM, dosen't matter if its in ACHI or IDE mode, RAID mode is a different kettle of fish. I've got a few older mobos that don't have ACHI mode but TRIM is enabled in Win 7 as the SSDs support TRIM. I've got one machine with no SATA ports onboard and a PCI Promise SATA150 TX2 controller as well with a Vertex LE 50gb in single mode operation, even with that, TRIM is on.
