Thanks for the reminder from many years ago.... Grandad slurping tripe through his gums! That alone put me off the stuff as a child.

When I was a butcher, we use to get it in large bags, & the stench when opening always made me feel sick.

I think vomit smells more appetising to be honest!!
It has a foul,acrid stench,why anyone would want to shovel it down their cakehole is beyond understanding.Can't be doing your breath much good either!! YUCK!!

I tried this when I was in Rome as it is a local delicacy. I was recommended a really nice local restaurant where the workers go for dinner and was told they do it extremely well there. I tried to like it I really did, but I just could not eat it. They cooked it three ways as well. Poor old lady who cooked it looked heartbroken when she saw I had left it all but she did make up for it by plonking a dirty great bottle of home made grappa on our table and told us we were free to finish it, which we did.
