I'm looking at some triple channel kits to fit go with my 1st 1336 rig consisting of a Asus P6X58D Premium and i7 930. I am planning to OC to 4g or > and the CPU will be under water.

Would ther be any benifit in choosing a 2000 mhz kit for more head room? Price loooks good on these Reapers or will a 1600mhz kit with slightly tighter timings be more than adequate like these Patriots plus the blue heat sinks will match the MB. I've seen the Sector 7 on offer with the same timings but is there any difference for using these?

This question was asked the other week, I think the Sector 7 is the updated version.

I've been using the Vipers in my system for the past year and a bit without problem.

Yes they will - remember you have ratios for your ram frequency v cpu frequency so you can certainly over clock to 4GHz and beyond if you wanted.

Memory speed shouldn't affect overclock of processor because, as already stated, you can set ratios in the bios for the memory clock.

But if you get faster memory then it will be an increase on performance over slower memory (only minor though).
Quite a lot of review sites tend to agree that faster memory with looser timings performs marginally better then slower memory with tighter timings.

For the difference in cost, if your planning to overclock, I would say get 2000Mhz
