Triple Monitor setup advice

Ok so I thought i'd better make sure my Samsung 2053BW could run at 1680x1050 @ 57Hz before I buy 2 more of them so I set up a custom resolution in the nvidia control panel. It runs games fine (did 10 Crysis bench loops and played BF2 and COD4 for a couple hours). The only issue seems to be that I get the OSD message "Not optimum Resolution". This either goes away after 60secs or if I press menus, but reappears whenever exiting a game or alt tabbing to desktop.

I've done some google research and some reading on the WSGF website but there doesnt seem to be too much knowledge on the subject of whether this is bad or not or how to make the OSD message stay away.

Should I be looking to get 3 new monitors that definitely support 57Hz and if so is there a definitive list anywhere?

The only list I know of is on the WSGF, its where I looked before picking up my Dells. Replied to you message via email.

Thanks for the email dude, i'll keep my eye on the site and let me know if you decide to go the 24" route ;) I posted on WSGF and received a possible fix for the 57Hz issue so i'll give that a try at the wknd. If it works i'll go with 2 more 2053bw.

What is the input lag like on the 2009w?

The Ultrasharp 2009W is now a TN panel, so no disernable lag :)
I'm still mulling it over, I already have 1 24" so may be an extra £150 after baying my 3 20"ers will get me a couple of additional 2nd hand 2407's. If you cant get yours working, just let me know, it maybe the impertus I need to make the switch.

Typhoon you helped me recently btw thanks again.

Can any of you guys show more screens but in particular with racing games.
Im currently wanting a racing cockpit with 3 way screens.

GTR EVO?

Also glad i read the thread to discover ATI are no good for TH2G.
When is the next gen of gfx cards due from Nvidia and has anywhere been giving details on the expected increase in performance?

BTW i only have a AMD X2DC 3.00 and 4 GB ram will i need to rebuild?
I need a system that will run most driving games with 60fps even in as little as 1280x720P with say 4xAA
Considering 3 of the new iiyama 24" 1920x1080 TFTs

I am hanking for a cockpit too, I decided to move from 20" to 24" and have picked up the couple of extra 24's I need. The Fanatec one looks tempting but I'll need to sell off a few of my gadgets before I can afford it. All the racing sims require modest graphics cards to run well. On rFactor (which has the same engine I believe as GTR Evo) I get 180 odd FPS with highest settings at 5040x1050 with 6xAA using the games built in frame counter. I have a wheel on order, so just playing with a XBox controller which is only ok in arcade mode.

So what frames do you get on Codies latest game?

Question is will you have enough power to run games like DIRT 2 and the upcoming F1 title in Triplehead in such a resolution?

I have Codies Grid which I run at the same res and it looks fine to my eye. I have never installed FRAPS but I'll give that a try tomorrow and see if I can measure it. Some how I fear the new F1 game will be more arcade than sim.

Thanks, it wont be any more arcade than previous console versions.
Im not expecting PC simness but i am expecting a fun game with the new track for this year and the night-time race so that will all be new.

Judging Codies games lately though it should at least look amazing particulary in triplehead.

Ok just measured my frames in Grid and GTR Evo using FRAPS
Grid 5040x1050 with 4xXMSAA and all advanced graphic options set to maximum I get around 40-50FPS in game with other cars on screen. Setting the AA to the next level 8xXMSAA really bogs things down at around 15-20FPS for no apreciable visual improvement.
GTR Evo 3840x1024 with Level 6AA (maximum option)) and all graphic options set at maximum I get around 200FPS (bug causes side screen issues at 5040x1050 but I get around 170FPS).

Object like cars, trees, spectators disappear when they get to the periphery at far ends of the side screen. Car overtaking you can 'appear out of nowhere'. This can be reduced to some extent by reducing the FOV to 80%.

Hello,

I am looking for two 24" monitors to go with my dell 24" 2408 wfp for use with TH2Go digital. Can anyone recommend some cheaper side monitors that will run at 57Hz please? I am thinking of the Dell E248WFP but am not sure whether they will run alongside my existing monitor or if they will work at 57Hz.

Thanks for any advice :)

Thanks for that mate and taking the time.
Can i ask you what is the most impressive racing games for you when playing in triplehead. The sensation of spped seems to be very much improved and its as if you feel more inside the games/world rather than playing through a window with a single monitor. Does that make sense?

All the sims are like GTR2/GTREVo/rFactor are pretty similar in triple head, Grid probably is most impressive in triple head as the street circuits are narrow with plenty of animated spectors and buildings filling the sidescreens. When you racing you prety much concentrate on the main screen but having screens in your peripheral vision does make you feel more part of the game and yes it does better potray the feeling of speed. When in single screen mode you are more aware that its that is only whats right in front of you thats moving which makes it more artificial. I'm trying no to use the word 'immersion' but that just what it is, and it feels right whilst single screen mode now just feels all wrong and articficial.
