Hi,

What do I need for a triple monitor setup?

Will it work under windows XP?

I plan to go for a 24" widescreen with 2 x 4:3 19" monitors...

Then all you need is a couple of graphics cards, try and keep them as similar as possible to keep drivers simple...so both nVidia or ATI, same series, etc, so for example 8800GTS+8500GT or 3870XT+HD3450. If you've got two PCIe slots this is easy enough, PCIe + PCI or AGP + PCI is a bit trickier as PCI cards are all pretty awful...if you're resistant to changing motherboards and only have one PCIe slot you may want to look into Matrox's dualhead2go and triplehead2go series (ideally the digital versions) though they aren't cheap and are limited in the resolutions they can push.

Look up ultramon, it allows monitor-specific taskbars and other little multiple screen array specific tweaks...it's not free though.

Well, I'm running dual monitor right now with a 7800gt. Now, I only have 1 x PCIe slot on my motherboard, so I'll dig out an a PCI card and see if I can get the 3rd screen to work. :)

I may keep an eye out for a 2 slot motherboard tho, as running this sounds like the way forward.

I think the last PCI nVidia card was the 5200FX, which is a grotty little card (horrible image quality, even on the desktop), I once ran a 6800GT and a 5200FX together successfully.

could buy one of the multigpu's on one card solutions (ie 9800gx2, 3870x2) as some of them have 4 dvi ports.

As you have a spare 1x pcie you could get a firemv (or the same type of quadro) type card for the non gaming - these are multi monitor cards but they're rubbish for gaming.

I'll keep an eye out for a PCI geforce then... :) 3 monitors with LCD is should be nice, 3 monitors with CRT monitors = desk about to collapse! :D
