hello

i increasingly find myself needing three monitors. Not for gaming, this takes place on the middle one and only the middle one. I currently have a 24" LG TN, and on the right a 19" BenQ TN. Ideally I want 3 24's but cannot afford this. I want to upgrade the main monitor to an IPS, most likely an NEC, can anyone suggest any good matching cheap monitors for use on the left and right ? I would want to hardware calibrate them, however I would be mainly using them for word documents. The way I type essays at the moment, i use one screen for looking at images, and the other for both typing and quoting references.

Also can i run them all off a 260 GTX or do I need Eyefinity ? The 260 has just 2 dvi ports, an Ati card has 2 of these + display port.

Thanks

I have the setup as seen in my sig, with the 8800gt for 2x 19" monitors on either side of a 23". If you have a spare pci-e slot then I recommend just getting another cheap card just for the side screens.

I'm runnning a Sammy T260 in the middle and two T220's either side. You will need either a triplehead2go or a second graphics card to run the third monitor because as you said, the GTX only has 2 DVI ports. I'm on a GTX280 with a crappy £10 geforce from ebay for the third. Works without any issues.

Im going to order 2 ST2410's and run them off the 260GTX.

Now I need a tv!

Out of interest, has anyone tried two ST2410s side by side? I have a strong suspicion that as they are both TN panels the shear space involved in such a twinned array (x2 24"s) you would find yourself sitting outside the viewable limits (160/160) - ie you'd have substantial IQ drop-off when not looking at either head-on, thus defeating the purpose. Sure it would be a different story with PVA or IPS panel technology, but TN?.... I'm not convinced.

I hope I'm wrong. I'm sorely tempted to get another ST2410 at the current price. Anyone tried it?
