Have ATI HS 6970 running 3 monitors if want to play just on the one does just turning off a monitor disable the rendering. Or is it still rendereded in the background so worth changing to just present one monitor?
 
Windows key + P is your friend mate with ATI

Tap it and choose Projector Mode. This will quickly jump to one single screen. Use CCC to select you "primary" screen

But yes, if you use a single screen and the left/right goes black, you are not rendering the windows images. But if you play and the windows is viewable, you are. I hope that makes sense
