Tripod advice

Missed the bit about the head only taking 6kg on the redsnapper!

Will have a think on it and check funds at the end of the month, what you say about the Manfrotto is interesting as I was also going to get some Kenko tubes as well for pairing up with my 50mm for cheap macro action.

Thanks for the advice

Right from doing some reading and searching I think I've settled on

Manfrotto 190XPROB Tripod for £109 with a carry bag, £86 without

With a MN486RC2 head for about £40ish.

I cannot see myself buying a zoom lens at this point greater than 300mm and even a canon 100-400mm lens doesn't weigh 2kgs.

Just a quick thanks to the OP and all the info provided by all the kind people. I've just gone for the Redsnapper too. I was aware of the 10% but have only just joined TP so thought it would be a bit cheeky! Also bought a 430ex II and the Canon 50mm 1.8 from a chap I found through TP. That's it for now, no more purchases! The wife'll kill me!

TalkPhotography forum. I think it's ok to mention in here, I did get there from here in the first place. It's a friendly forum, but I find it a bit "pro", so not knowing much about photography I tend to just read rather than contribute.
