Slightly politically incorrect but true story:

My girlfriend works part time at an adventure play area which runs evenings for disabled teenagers. Last week a Mum came in with her son Thomas and apologised for Thomas not being there the week before. Thomas has Down's Syndrome and rather than just saying 'He was ill' or some other simple excuse she explained what had happened..

She was at work and received a call from Thomas saying "Mum I've caught a Troll". She brushed this off as a bad dream and told Thomas not to worry as she'll be home in a couple of hours.

A few minutes later she received another call from a slightly more panicked Thomas insisting he'd caught a Troll. She asked him to calm down and promised to be home in a couple of hours.

Soon after that she received a call from Thomas who was in tears, sounded really distressed and saying (in a teary hyperventilating voice) "Mum... I've caught a Troll, it's in the closet upstairs banging on the door". She apologised to her Boss & said she had to go home as Thomas was panicing about something and clearly upset.

She arrives back at home and is shocked to see police cars outside the house and police knocking on the door calling into the house & asking someone to open the door. She explained her son had Down's syndrome & went inside to see if he was ok...

Thomas was in the living room & looked terrified, he was too scared to open the front door and was saying over and over that there was a Troll upstairs in the closet.

The mother goes upstairs and sees the closet closed with a table and random things blocking it and holding it shut..

She moves the things to one side and opens the door only to find.........

A Midget.. There was a midget locked in her upstairs closet... The midget ran outside, eventually calms down and tells the Police and Thomas' mother that he was delivering Betterware catalogues, had knocked on the door and Thomas (having never seen a midget before) had totally freaked out, obviously thought he was a Troll and had just screamed, grabbed him, dragged him up the stairs, thrown him into the closet and jammed it shut piling whatever he could in front of the door.

The Midget was freaking out and on his mobile phone to the Police from inside the closet whilst Thomas was calling his Mum.. He must have seen a cartoon or a book with an illustration of a Troll that looked familiar. Imagine just delivering catalogues & great big arms reaching out pulling you in to the house, dragging you up the stairs and throwing you into a closet!
