Read this before work this morning and it just made me feel so sad that this is what the internet has come too. Actually trolling RIP pages of peoples loved ones.

I realise this has been going on for god knows how longs, on sites such as 4chan, which is away in its own private community, but to actually post on the page of the family directly, is just a new low.

:(

I think we need to draw the line where people will face serious legal consequences for this kind of behaviour, and I'm not talking about civil litigation, I'm talking about criminal prosecution. Humans are savages, we need Law to keep us in check and if this kind of behaviour keeps going the way it's going, god knows what it will be like in 10 years time.

People have been doing this for a long while. The entire 'an hero' meme is based on it.

That isn't, of course, to say that it is right or acceptable behaviour, but it certainly is nothing new.

There are already laws which would cover the above.

It's not exactly easy for the CPS to cause a clear conviction for cases like this, the law needs to be clearer and the sentences need to be harsher, this isn't the 90s any more, a lot of legislation revolving the internet needs a serious overhaul, copyright comes to mind.

Humans are unsympathetic by nature and very selfish, posting on the internet you really feel detached from the situation it's almost like not even thinking about it, think about it, you wouldn't go to a cancer ward and start making fun of people, you would genuinely feel bad unless you're a socio path.

It's important to draw a distinction between all of 4chan and /b/ itself. And even then half of /b/ think the other half are idiots.

I think a lot of /b/'s 'raids' these days have become increasingly unimaginative and pathetic. There's a plan to get hold of a lot of Qur'ans and burn them online on the 16th April. A lot of the community don't want anything to do with the rookies who get up to things like this - not because it's too 'hardcore' for them but because it's idiotic. There are other boards with some quite decent and interesting stuff on that site but most people think that /b/ is 4chan.

I'm just waiting for some 4chan goons to come in here and tell us all how funny the whole thing is.

Because it's not, it really is not.

e : welp, I was a minute too late. 4chan excusers ITT, go go go!

Tbh, Pancake has a point. These forums are choc full of useful information and 99% of it is located anywhere but GD. ;)

/b/ proud.

I'm not saying I'd post that stuff but I did laugh at one quote, I'm aware that's bad.

Theres a line.... doing it in privacy, doing it directly to the attention of the persons family.

Both are wrong, one is just a lot more wrong than the other.

Do I laugh at stuff like this on 4chan, yes.... is it funny to me to see it posted on the persons page, aimed directly at upsetting the grieving family, no.

:(

Really, It's not really the victims problem but it would take a few minutes just to take that page down or delete your facebook account.

If someone comes in to your work and punches you in the face everyday or swears at you, are you going to /delete life?

Where do we draw the line between what's acceptable and what's not?

If an apple falls on a pie does the moon continue to rotate?

Your question is ridiculous, you're talking about something totally different covered by an entirely different legal framework, not to mention moral and social norms.

Inappropriate? yes. but we shouldn't be passing legislation to counter this. It isn't the bestxway and will ultimately undermind our right to free speech.

I'm with you on this, we'd just get into the area of forcing morality. The snowball effect would be worrying.

Some of the comments made me laugh :o but then me & most of us on here are used to this & even enjoy banter/trolling call it what you like.
I do feel sorry for the relatives of the kids though as I can understand it would upset somebody new to the Interwebs.
Can't have legislation though I am bang against any kind of legislation & would prefer relying on common decency.
