Tropico 3

Would you describe this as Civ crossed with B&W then?

Looks interesting but the official website is hardly fact filled and informative.

It's more like Sim City tbh. Lots of micro management, balancing resources and different aspects of the population's happiness.

I really like it :D Will be buying on release day.

Well I love SimCity!

Grabbing demo, then it's back to Deus Ex. :D

Is this anything like anno 1404?

The only really similar things are the idea of production/manufacturing chains and the city building concept. Saying that i can see people liking Anno 1404 enjoying the type of game Tropico is (i know i enjoy both a lot).

I heard somewhere that the current makers of Tropico 3 are not the same bunch that did 1 and 2 but only bought the rights for it or something like that. That might be good news though since Haemimont(the company behind Tropico 3) seems pretty good at making strategy games from the city builder types.

This game is so good, i happened to see it a while ago and downloaded the demo last night.

I am really enojying it, would like a bit more time (within the game) to really advance my economy and build sub towns and develop my education system and build a tourism industry. But this is what keeps me wanting to buy the real game when it comes out.

I reckon this game is a complete breath of fresh air to the gaming community!

I tried the tutorial, it started too slow and couldn't skip to the hard bits, gave up and tried a normal game (or well, whatever non tutorial lvl was in the demo), and kind of felt clueless what to do... The game needs a tutorial for people comfy with rts and sims and just need the stuff exclusive in tropico explained.

Not played many builder games since Sim City 4

kind of fun, but the Islands never really develop ala Sim City, you get maybe 20 years at a time and it flys by, just a big balancing act.

i have got a taste for these again though, might dig out Sim City4, any other games of this ilk i should try ?

So anyone enjoying this game then?

I think it is fantastic and a complete breath of fresh air to the FPS and RPG games that are flooding the market at the moment!

I spent a chunk of last weekend on the demo and really enjoy it. I remember playing the first one years ago and loved it. Think I'll pick this up soon and give it a proper crack. Might get it off steam thinking about it!!
