Tropico 5

Hope its a proper sequel this time, difficult to tell from that video though.

Still, more Tropico can only be a good thing.
 
someone needs to do a city builder in pirate times where you start as a pirate RTS mode robbing people to get the wealth to start your own island colony.

modern times dlc set in somalia ^_^

could be epic
 
The trailer does make it look pretty much the same as 3 and 4 to the point where even the music is taken from one of the older games. That said, 3 and 4 were enjoyable enough that this should still be worthwhile.
 
Loved Tropico 4, can't wait to try this out. Was never really in to city build games until I played Tropico. :D Signed up for the beta, fingers crossed. :p
 
Hopefully they'll make this a lot harder, Trop 4 was so easy it was boring.

And it was based from the Grand Ages: Rome engine too, which is slightly interesting. Just a shame GA:R was boring as hell.
 
Going to fire up Tropico 4 again, maybe turn the heating up and put on my banana leaf hat.

First day purchase for me I think.

It's not really all that comparable with Sim City. In the tropico games you build all the individual buildings rather than just designating zones. You also have to deal with supply chains. Producing basic resources, and either exporting them or building factories to refine and then export the finished products. All while trying to keep your population happy so they vote for you (or just rig the vote to win).

That said, my last sim city experience was sim city 2000, so the games may have changed since then!
