Trouble adding NVME to Gigabyte B450

Have just bought a WD Blue SN550 NVME drive. I am having real problems in getting it set up.

Have tried various things in BIOS but no luck so far, it's just not appearing in windows. It has appeared in the BIOS boot list, but that's it. Mobo is Gigabyte Aorus Pro wifi itx. I already have a WD Sata SSD that windows is installed on.

Help appreciated!

It sounds like you just need to partition the drive.

Assuming you're on Windows 10, right click on the start menu button, find and open disk manager. You should see your drive listed there as unallocated space. Right click that to create a partition and follow the guide through.

Sadly it's not appearing in disk manager at all.

Edit.. Tried updating bios from F2 to F32, now it gets stuck on the Aorus logo during boot and won't let me into bios at all. Off to bed and a fresh look tomorrow.

Sometimes nvme drives share bandwidth with Sata ports or other things like pci e slots.

For example I have 6 Sata ports but if I put an nvme drive in it disables 2 of them and I can only use 4.

You need to read the manual. You possibly need to move another device to another slot. It could be anything so read the manual.

It's an Itx so not many ports to play with. Tried moving the existing SSD to all of the other 3 sata ports with no luck. Have gone through the manual and there is very little help, says how to screw in the heat sink though...
