Hey guys,

I had a bit of a selling spree last week. Sold 7 items, got excellent feedback, quick delivery, well packaged etc. But the person I sold my XFX 4890 to is saying it's not arrived. He has a Polish name, lives in london from what I can tell its an apartment.

I've told him to check for a delivery note, incase he was out. But he's sending very short broken english messages

"Could you post items yet "

------------

"HI

I havent got item yet, 7 days gone , if i can get my item till wendesday i want money back . "

:( I dont have a good feeling about this. What happens if he continues to say the item has not arrived, and what can he do to get his money back?

I put a lot of effort packing well and dispatching on the same day, the item SHOULD be there, its been a full week. Dispatched 1st class package. All the other items were delivered quickly. Can this guy claim for a refund and keep my card if he actually has it?

- I dont mean to be rude, or racist, I mentioned he had a polish name for background info only, he is a new ebay member and this is only his second purchase.

A) RM have been striking the last few weeks. One of my parcels to Cs|nuts| took longer than expect.
B) did you send it special delivery or as a parcel?
C) did you put he tracking code into paypal as soon as you sent it.

I was a mug and sent it 1st class thinking it would be fine. I thought compensation was up to £150 for 1st class

yep its 15 working days too, which puts the date to 8th October. Just worried he'll get impatient and take advantage of my mistake of not having recorded delivery. Its a £150 mistake that I wont make again.

You'll have to have written a return address on the package for it to come back. Personally if you have any doubts about the guys elligiblity then string him along for as long as is feasibly possible. If he opens up a dispute answer on the last day allowed each time and hope he runs out of time to be elligible for a refund. *

*This maybe be morally suspect and if you don't get into heaven it's not my fault you took my advice

lol dont worry I will keep it going for as long as I can, something doesnt seem quite right with this guy when all the other buyers were extremely friendly and positive. Fingers crossed I find a 4890 in my post, I did write a return address. I hope if it does get delivered that the guy doesn't realise my mistake of not having it recorded delivery.

I've asked him to wait for the 15 working days to pass and linked him to the RM compensation page (I know it would be me who would file for compensation, but hopefully buy some time)

NEVER AGAIN!

The paypal account balance is Zero, however it's linked to my bank account =[

If I attempt to close the accounts and effectively do a runner wouldnt I be blacklisted?

Hey Guys,

I'm not going to do a runner, and worst case I'll have to refund and lose the card when the guy likely has it, based on my other deliveries being ok. I'll know in future to do recorded delivery or special delivery. I wasn't being tight about not opting for recorded delivery, what happened was, I turned up at the post office with 7 packages 10 min before closing. I wanted to get them all on their way for a speedy delivery. I forgot to say I'd like recorded delivery, I just said 1st class.

I did find it amusing reading about the racist remarks, we're basing everything on very little info that we have of the buyer, and trying to determine if I'm being scammed. Good moral dilemma though, should I pre-empt I'm being scammed and try a runner, if there were no consequences then I probably would, I don't trust this buyer, but I'm playing by the book, carefully.

From this point forth I shall only use;
RECORDED DELIVERY / SPECIAL DELIVERY / COURIER

I advise you to point the buyer to this ebay announcement regarding the postal strikes.

http://www2.ebay.com/aw/uk/200909.shtml#2009-09-14135718

He normally has to wait a week, but this should convince him to wait an extra week. If it hasn't arrived by then, you have no choice but to refund him or wait for him to open a dispute.

I'm sure it will arrive if the buyer just waits a bit. Post very rarely goes missing.

Thankyou! very helpful link
I've sent a further email, hopefully he can hold out.
Might be worth noting I've sent the item from Glasgow, I can imagine worst case where the item passes through multiple striking districts.

Hi,

An update I found some more information about the postal strikes
http://www2.ebay.com/aw/uk/200909.shtml#2009-09-14135718

Its possible the item has passed through several districts which were on strikes at different dates,
"cross-country mail services will be severely disrupted"

I apologise for this, it must be distressing not recieving the item yet, distressing for me too,
please be patient for a little while longer, you've been very patient already.

Let me know when the item arrives please.
Thankyou for your patience.

Best Wishes
Craig Burrows.
