Hi

I've recently purchased a Asus DSL N55U but I've having trouble connecting to Sky (my broadband provider).

Looking at the settings page of my Sky broadband router I can see it connects using PPPoA (rather than MER).

When I enter my ADSL login details it appears that the N55U has connected in the router ADSL log, see below:

However on the main page it says it's disconnected and if I try and access the internet it doesn't work:

If it helps here is the router log:

Jan 1 00:04:59 pppd[344]: Connect: ppp0 <--> eth2.1.1

This seems to occur whether I input the Sky Sagem router MAC address into the Asus router WAN settings or not (which I know sometimes needs to be done to connect to Sky). I've also updated the router to the latest firmware off the Asus website.

Any ideas what's going on? Help much appreciated!

Tried connecting with a cable directly, but no difference.

From looking at the router log, it seems it's some sort of authentication issue with Sky as it keeps saying "CHAP authentication failed" (which if you google seems to suggest a user/pass problem or an issue their end).

I'm almost certain the username and password are right, any ideas?

If you are not certain then your user/pass input isn't right. :)

Looks like the culprit to me.

Got it working, seems the password I got from the backup file was not correct (online guide I used was incorrect).

Found a different method and all seems to be working ok :).

Hate to say I told you so. :p

:p:o

Thing is I got the user/pass from the back file based on an internet guide on avforums but the password was incorrect (router needs to be disconnected when you save the config file for it to work which it didn't mention in the original post).

Used another way to get the password and it connected fine - at least it works now :).
