Trouble running Kingston DDR2 at 1066 ?

Hello, i bought 8gig of the Kingston HyperX DDR2 memory a few weeks ago, due to a motherboard rma i've just got round to setting it all up. With the memory settings all set to auto it runs great (memtest ran for 4+hours until i got bored, Crysis runs etc...) the problem is after setting the memory to 5-5-5-15/2.2v/one other setting to run at 1066 (?) the pc doesn't post, i get no video at all only the fans etc running. The only way to get it to run is to turn off the power on the psu, wait for a minute then turn on and press power (if it doesn't work, repeat)

When it boots it runs fine, nothing errors or crashes, CPU-Z reports its running at 1066/unganged/dual channel, Crysis plays great... until i restart or shut down the pc and i'm back to square one. I'm not sure if this is a memory or a motherboard issue and i'm hoping its just down to an incorrect bios setting. I've upgraded from a Asrock dual sata II which had simple options in the bios unlike the new one which has rather a lot.

Specs.

PII 720 be
Gigabyte GA-MA790X-UD4 F2A bios
8gig Kingston Hyper X DDR2 memory
Zotac 9800GTX + 512mb
1tb Hitachi sataII
320gb Hitachi sataII
Pioneer DVD-RW
Jeantech 700w Storm psu.

If anyone is running this memory on the same motherboard then i'd be most thankful for a list of the settings you are using, thanks for any help !

I also have the same problem except most of the time it won't even go into windows, it will freeze at the windows logo screen. I have the same ram as you but a Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P motherboard. I have ran memtest and all 4 sticks of my ram are ok. My pc works good when the ram is running at 800mhz but my pc most of the time won't post enev if i run the ram at 925mhz.

I can run 1 stick or 2 at 1066mhz but all 4 seems to be a mixed bag for me. Windows will load sometimes then it will not post when my pc is restarted but mostly it freezes at the windows logo and thats it.

If 2 sticks run ok but 4 dont then that would indicate you need to bump up your NB voltage a little, using all 4 DIMMs adds extra strain to the PC, try upping NB a notch or 2, around 1.39 should be about right

Yup, sounds like your NB isn't quite stable running 4 sticks and needs a bit of extra juice.

It's probably not the memory. Most users I am seeing still have trouble running 2 modules at 1066 on AMD rigs. In the past 3 months, I have only seen 1 person state that he had stability with an AMD rig and 4 modules at 1066. It can be difficult even on Core II rigs.

I tried upping the volts on the NB & also the memory to 2.3v but it still does it, think i'll have to wait for Gigabyte to bring out another bios and try again.
