trouble with connecting to live

Hey guys/gals,

Finally got my 360 back after exams and im having a issue with connecting to live. When testing the connection i get as far to the internet stage and it keeps failing. I have tried restarting the router, putting the DSN and IP details in manually and so far im getting nothing. Funny thing is that when i put the ethernet cable into my laptop the connection seems to be fine but all that changes when i put it into my 360.

Can anyone help?

Doubt it, i aint been on for around 6+ months (through the xbox that is)

Does it give any error code when it fails?

no error codes, i did manage to connect and update the console but when it restarted i could not connect again. In someway the connection i s based on my laptops connection to the moden (wireless).
