Hey lads my sister got a new laptop for xmas and she wants all her files from my laptop, now the easiest route obviously would be to network them, or atleast you would think that.

I cant find the wireless network i set up and dont know how to find it on Vista.

The "Set up small home or office network" isnt really working very well.. Its not finding anything and im not sure if it will if im running wirelessly..

Im pretty sure you can. We are both running wireless laptops on a Netgear router.

Im not sure how to root, even though the last time i typed these certain details in it found the computer e.g "\\SAMIIEE-PC" as my sister is known (chavvy i know, shes 14).

Does anyone know if i can even network them on other OS's im sure i can.

I set up a wireless network, not a clue where to find that lol..

Never set up a wireless network before.

Anyone here know what i can do, i sound really noobish... I have done this plenty of times before, never in my life used Vista though.

Cheers,

James.

Yeah you should be able to network them and do everything you've described. Two ideas:
1) Perhaps silly, but is there a wireless switch located on the laptop itself that you need to switch on?
2) Maybe you've set your router to hide the wireless SSID. Have a poke around on the web config panel and see if this is the case.

Not setting up a wireless network is noobish too!

Nobody knows what experience you have so how is anyone ment to know? Unless you explain to them exactly what you have done and checked?

On vista its Start > Connect To and it will pick up the wifi network. Enter your Encryption key(Password) Into the box. If that does not come up your doing something wrong. I.e the side switch for wifi is not turned on.
