Hi

I've been going on several sites lately trying to figure out what is the problem with my computer, and sadly no one has replied. I wanted to give a go on this site. Hopefully it's in the right area =)

I've built the following computer last week, and every time i try installing a drive for any graphics card i get the below message. (I used my friends AMD 7970 and also get the same problem)

I keep getting the following error message: "NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version (any) stopped respending etc"

Again, i only get this once i try installing the drives for any card.

Graphics card: Gigabyte GTX 680 2GB GDDR5 Dual DVI HDMI DisplayPort PCI-E Graphics Card
Chip:Intel Core i7 3820 3.6GHz Socket 2011 10MB L3 Cache Retail Boxed Processor
Motherboard: Asus P9X79 PRO Socket 2011 8 Channel Audio ATX Motherboard
SSD : OCZ 120GB Agility 3 SSD - SATA-III - Read 525MB/s Write 500MB/s 85,000 IOPS
HDD :Seagate 2TB BARRACUDA 3.5" SATA-III Hard Drive - 7200RPM 64MB Cache
RAM:G-Skill 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600Mhz RipjawsX Memory Kit CL9 (9-9-9-24) 1.5V
FAN:Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro rev 2 Socket 775, 1156, 1155, 1366, AM2, AM3 Heatpipe CPU Cooler
POWER:OCZ ZX Series 850W 80+ GOLD PSU Fully Modular PSU
CD DRIVE:LG BH10LS38 10x BD-RW with DVD±RW DL & RAM Lightscribe SATA Blu-Ray Drive - Retail Black

I've tried different rams, reseting mobo/ updating to newest Bios but still keep getting this error.

Does anyone have an idea if it could be software or hardware? All the above was brand new.

Also to note, i tried reinstalling the windows and found out that my computer would not reformat my SSD until i used another pc...could this be the fault of the motherboard?(Windows is now installed again)

Thanks for the help

Hopes

you get that message when installing the driver or when playing games ect?

have you tried an older driver version? oh and using the latest motherboard bios?

I get this message right after i've installed any driver, then it keeps crashing/restarting any time the windows is up.

I've tired older driver versions/ beta and yes i've tried different bios for the motherboard....

I've also tried different rams....

Thanks

Download Driver Sweeper/ and Boot into Safe Mode and run it, it should remove any instance of the nVIDIA and/or AMD drivers.

The fact that you put in your friends AMD card and get the error says there's a driver overlapping problem somewhere.
Also check that you have all Windows Updates (not security updates) and that your chipset drivers are up to date.

Once you've ran driver sweeper to remove all graphics drivers, you should do a clean install of the drivers (don't install any of the 3D stuff at first hand - just the core stuff).

Set PhysX in the nVIDIA control panel, try this and get back to us!

Thanks for the reply.

I've done several full OS reinstalls, would that not get rid of the drives etc?

Anyway i brought the computer to a tech company and they did the above you recommended and just had the basic drive installed. The problem still occurred....(they have no real idea what the problem is, i've asked them to try a different mobo. They will try this tonight)

On my end i reinstalled NVIDIA with the option to get ride of all old drives etc, still had the problem.

Thanks for the help.
