Trouble with Nvidia drivers

Hey guys, I'm trying to install the drivers for my GTX470 but I'm not having any luck once they're installed.

Got a new CPU and mobo today (Gigabyte 970A-UD3P) and I've installed the new drivers except the nvidia one for the gfx card. When I do install it, it loads to the windows logo screen then the monitor goes on standby, and the only way to get back into windows is in safe mode. I'm able to use windows in normal mode without the nvidia drivers.

Any ideas? I've tried installing older driver versions, but nothing!
 
I take it you had this GPU running before this or is this a new GPU to you?

If it worked on the old MOBO then perhaps some thing is wrong with this one?
Have you tried other PCIe slots?
 
Had it running fine before. Not tried other PCIe slots, will try the other one. Any more ideas in case it doesn't resolve the issue?

I can't find the setting in the BIOS for PCIe > VGA setting.

Google your Motherboard BIOS layout.


I'm not that good with Nvidia, but plenty around here are, i just saw this dropping off the end of the page and though i would bump it up with the only suggestion i have.

Hopefully some Nvidia Guru will spot this.

Tried nvidia uninstaller in safe mode, and reinstalling the driver but nothing, same problem.
 
sounds like its trying to display a resolution that your monitor does not accept. How have you got the card plugged in ? VGA or DVI ? Have you used an adaptor ?

When you turn your PC on keep pressing F8 (just after bios post screen) so you get the windows menu (the one with safe mode) and try booting to VGA and see what happens.
 
Card is plugged in with a VGA to DVI adaptor (I've got two monitors, so two adaptors). Computer was working perfectly fine last night with the old mobo and old CPU.

What do you mean booting to vga? Boot to low resolution video? I can only presume it'll boot up fine, as it does with normal mode. Do you mean boot to VGA mode with the nvidia drivers installed?
 
I have a feeling it's more to do with mobo settings, but in the BIOS I can't find the VGA/PCIe setting...
 
Run Display Driver Uninstaller and make sure you let the computer fully reboot and let Windows fail to install the drivers and then manually install the latest WHQL.
 
Heads up

Solved it by installing the drivers and booting to windows, and once the screen switched off I unplugged the two connectors at the back (for the screens) and when I reconnected they came on. Been working fine ever since!!
