Troubles with a Network Switch

Hi,
I am having some issues with my network switch, let me explain.

I have my Virgin Hub 3.0 in modem mode with a Tp-Link Archer C60 router connected via Ethernet Cable. I have a Cat6 cable running from the office upstairs into the room downstairs and upstairs in the office I have a TP-Link TL-SG105E Gigabit Switch. Do I plug the cable into the TP-Link router then into the switch, or do I have to plug the switch into the Virgin Hub, then the switch? Any help would be appreciated.

Virgin Modem -> TP-Link Router -> TP-Link Switch

Anything else will result in a packet storm where data is resent round and round the network, or just get ignored if you have spanning tree turned on (RSTP or STP).
