Hey guys,

I put together a new rig today and couldn't get the thing to work, I'm 95% sure it's the motherboard which I bought B-Stock from OCUK but I figure double checking I've tried everything can't hurt before I look into sending it back. At present when I try to power it on the PSU and CPU fans spin up, but I get no video signal.

Full build:

AMD 1600 AF
16GB Patriot Viper 3200
Asrock B450M Pro 4
256GB Integral NvME
Powercolor RX580
BitFenix Formula Gold 650W
Corsair 200R case

What I've tried:

Reseated the HSF.
Reseated CPU fan header
Double checked the CPU was placed correctly in the socket (it was)
Reseated the RAM
Tried each stick of RAM by itself in each slot
Reconnected the power connectors to the board
Built outside the case on the mobo box

I've also tried the PSU, NvME, and GPU in another system and they're absolutely fine.

I'm calling it quits for tonight, but I'm going to give things another once over tomorrow.

Is there anything I've missed?

Bios needs to be on P2.00 for the 1600AF to work and when you buy these motherboards you dont know what Bios version they come with.

Given that's a 2018 bios and the board I bought entered b-grade in the past week or two I'd hoped that wouldn't be a problem.

No way to really test the theory either as I don't have any chips that would be compatible with the motherboard at hand.

Sometimes there's a tiny sticker on the board or box that may reference a date or bios version / revision

You definitely got all the power connectors in the right places / cables?

Yup.

Went over it twice with the Bitfenix and a third time with a spare XFX unit.

Edit 1: The box does say "Ryzen 3000 ready" but I've no idea if it's the original box or not with it being b-stock.

Edit 2: I have noticed that the CPU fan spins up and down regularly, which indicates the motherboard is cycling through a components check. Since I can guarantee that everything else works it could be a bios issue.

There is this i dont know if you installed this first, this will give you no display just try but if not cont

Please install "AMD all in 1 with VGA driver ver:18.10.20_NHDA" or a later version before updating to this BIOS.
** If you updated the BIOS before updating the AMD all in one driver, please refer to the Display recovery SOP to recover your system.

Then again since you are not getting video you wont be able to try so perhaps contact overclokers or see if a mate or someone has a older cpu you can try a cpu that uses the very first bios.

Tried clearing CMOS or removing Mobo battery for a bit?

It's b-grade so is it missing any jumpers or have any set wrong (if it has any?)

Have you plugged display into graphics card and not back of motherboard?

I'll give the CMOS reset a shot, totally forgot about that.

Doesn't seem to be missing anything other than the I/O shield.

Monitor was plugged into the GPU.

Yeah, it's a completely fresh install and there's zero video output.

If I'd received this a few days earlier I'd have had a compatible CPU at hand, as I was building a system for someone else. Unfortunately it's been picked up and taken away, there's no chance of me getting it back.

Fingers crossed for you mate
Just about all the B grade stuff I have bought did actually work
No idea if that board can be blind bios flashed or not if needed

Yeah, hopefully this works.

I've bought other b-grade stuff before and honestly it's been spot on.

No bios flashback on the board unfortunately, was kinda strapped for cash when I put the build together or I'd have went with a better board. The Asrock B450M Pro 4 is a very decent board, especially given I only paid £50 for it, although if it really is borked I'm buggered.

No idea if it's a socketed bios chip
If it is then it's possible to replace it with one with a newer bios or hot swap flash
It if know some one with same board
If pulling battery doesn't work

Price has shot up i only paid £60 new and i see its £95 now But not worth £95

That's a shame
But yeah you can return b grade items
They refunded my b grade return really quickly

How did they handle the return?

I'm in isolation at the moment and shouldn't really leave my flat.

Going to have to find another mobo once the refund goes through also, but there's huge stock shortages everywhere! lol...
