Lately i've been getting a random bsod, but then they started to get more frequent until i couldn't even get to the windows login screen before it turned blue ! Now my system won't boot at all, it switches on and fans spin etc, but no post !
I checked the blue screen code on google it seemed to be related to the graphics card... Anyway i unplugged everything just leaving graphics card and m/b plugged in and still nothing, tried one memory at a time with no luck. Then i noticed one of the lights (3.3v) on the back of the psu was red, also showing 2 red lights on the graphics card (t_fault & ext_pwr)..
So i checked the rails with a digital multi meter (not a great one cos it only measures whole numbers)... Anyway i turned the screws on the rails until they were all green and checked from the m/b power connector and the 5v is fine reading 5v, but the 3.3v is showing 2v and the 12v is reading 11v.. I then checked the seperate dedicated graphics power and it's only reading 10v, even when i turn the 12v rail up to max which shows a red light it still only reaches 11v.
So is the psu the problem ? or are these voltages correct when not under load ? would the low voltage stop the system booting ?
edit - forgot to mention that the small chipset fan wasn't spinning cos it was caked in dust, so after i did all the checks i took out the fan and cleaned it with electrical contact cleaner and put some new thermal paste on and now it's spinning fine, but system still doesn't boot !
Thanks for your help
