Hi All,

Just wanted to get your second opinion on a problem I'm having with my PC at the moment.

Currently my PC powers on and everything works but there is no display and the keyboard and mouse don't light up, would you reckon this is the motherboard that has gone?

It all points to it but I just wanted a second opinion.

Thanks,
Matt

could be PSU. what Mobo do you have ?? and what make/age is the PSU ? are the mobo lights/LED on fans spinning etc ?

Fans etc are spinning and I would guess the Mobo is 4 years. It's a H77-G43 as far as I can remember.

Just left it on and the mobo has reset and come on, could be the CMOS battery?

This can be mobo, CPU, PSU or even RAM. When you say it has now come on, is that fully with display and USB devices?

Remove the GTX980 SLI cards. Disconnect everything you don't need to POST.

That means disconnecting everything from the PSU except the Mobo ATX power cable & the smaller CPU 4+4pin power cable.

You mobo should only have RAM, CPU & cooler attached to it. Plus Keyboard & monitor --> the IGP graphics.

Then try to swap out whatever you can. That includes removing all except 1 of the RAM sticks. (and then swapping that stick with the other one).

All come on fully working after removing the CMOS Battery and plugging back in however i have to do this every time.

Ill buy a replacement to see if this cures the issue.

Definitely worth a try. Assuming you've had your 2600K since they were new, I've had motherboards of that age require new batteries.
