TrueCrypt Alternatives for Android/PC ?

Can anyone recommend any apps for Android (4.4.2) that can be used to create encrypted folders/drives on Android and also work on PC (with software) ?

I've tried "EDS" and "Lurks Manager" and I can't get them to work properly.
Is there anything else out there ?

I'd like to encrypt fairly large files (500MB ish), so the cloud isn't viable.

I'm just trying to create an encrypted folder/volume of a certain size.
And then add the contents.

Ideally something that can be used on Android and PC.
Or worst case, I can create the folder on Android and when the folder is "open", it's visible when connected to the PC and I can transfer contents across, before I "close" it again.
 
The problem with Truecrypt is that you need to able to mount the volume, which isn't that easy on Android. You'd probably need to be rooted.

An easy way would just be to make a password protected rar/zip file? :p

I am rooted. I can mount/read/write to NTFS drives etc.
I've tried a passworded RAR, but it takes forever to extract.
Creating multi RAR's would be an answer, but that's the last resort.
