I have an external hdd connected to my pc via USB. It is encrypted via truecrypt, and needs a password to access it

I tried to access it today, and however when I put my password in, it told me that the password was incorrect

When I run disk management, I get a message saying "You must initiliase a disk before logical disk manager can access it" - It gives me a choice between MBR and GPT.

I choose MBR, and it says "Data error (cyclic redunancy check)"

It then presents me with the normal 'disk management' screen (where all the hard drives are listed), and for this drive it says "unallocated"

Also worth noting that killdisk states:

"error (data error (cyclic redundancy check)) reading sector 0 on 84h"

Is there any way I can fix this and recover my data? Luckily I do have it all backed up, but it's a 2tb drive, want to fix it if I can

thanks
