Hi,
How can i trust my new pc when i dont have access to my old phone number? Tried putting my new number in and then clicking trust, but i dont get a text to my new number and if i click "didnt get code" it will want to text or call my old number, which i cant acess any longer?

Tried everything and its driving me insane

Log in to a Microsoft service such as mail via a browser and then access your account details.

www.outlook.com

After log in, click user name in top right corner of browser window and select 'Account settings' > 'Edit security info'. You can then add a new phone number and delete the old one.

You will probably have to wait a month after adding the new number before you will be able to complete the trust process so that someone can't do the same if they were able to gain access to your account, at least not without waiting a month, so a good idea to keep an eye on those security settings from time to time.

Unfortunately that does seem to be the case as I had the same situation with a laptop I did at xmas for a family member. On the other hand it does make your account detail more secure.

One alternative is to use something like xmarks and lastpass that have their own account credentials outside of Microsoft, these also have cross platform and browser capabilities.
