Trust

I personally would say 12 months might be a bit too much.
If that could be dropped to 6 months. And you can get in quicker with full proof of your reliablity (ebay feedback - plus I think there are a few other *trust* type things)
Authorisation code is a great idea though.

These problems would be much less likely to occur if people didn't first join the trust and start buy buying/selling big things. I started off with tiny things

Wow im gobsmacked, this is the first time ive seen somone actually rip people off on there.

Im a relativley new user of the MM but i thought that place was pretty safe.

THe chances are that guy was maybe a foreign student and he moved back to his home country.

I know when my american housemate left for the US he ran up some nasty bills and generally was a dick head with money. I think he owed over 5 grand and just did a bunk.

just don't buy from anyone with a "thug" rank. particularly if the majority of their posts are made in the mm.

IIRC, MM posts do not go towards total post count.

yes that's my point... if they are still a "thug" then it's probably because they don't post elsewhere. i don't trust people who just come here to use the mm.

Well if you're still a 'thug', you don't have MM access as you need 250 standard posts

oh that's right it changed... i forgot. well that makes no difference anyway, personally i wouldn't buy anything (expensive) from anyone who wasn't a wise guy.

I'm going to close this now, if anyone has any issues with individuals in the MM please contact the applicable Dons for further investigation via RTM or email (or contact any moderator). I don't know if that has been done in these specific cases so I can't comment.

The MM entrance rules were tightened up (250 posts AND 90 days) a while ago to try and reduce any risk of this sort of thing happening though there will always be a risk no matter what steps we take. We are always on the look out for suspicious posting behaviour that might indicate someone posting purely to get into the MM and we would welcome any users to RTM any posts from users who are making repeated spammy posts.
