TRV question/recommendations

I've recently purchased some Hive TRVs (https://www.hivehome.com/products/hive-radiator-valve?icid=mname:mega-menu.iname:hive-radiator-valve) but they only come with the thermostat part and not the radiator fitting and I have the old type of radiator valves currently.

I'm getting our bathrooms done next month including new rads, so while the heating is drained down I'm going to take advantage and install some TRVs and then replace the tops with the Hive gear.

I've had Drayton vales in the past which I was really happy with, but I'm wondering if it's worth spending that much if I'm replacing the whole top. I can get cheap valves for a fiver each, would these be just as good in my situation?

Try Monster Plumb Ltd (Drayton TRV4 15mm Classic Angled Body & Lockshield) I'm doing the same was cheaper to by full kit and do both ends at the same time, they worked out at £17.80 each which is dirt cheap for these. If the Hive turns out to be crap as many reviews are commenting (maybe mostly user error) you still have the TRV's.

Drayton trv4 are poop. Their plastic trunks brittle and cracks so the valve breaks and releases from the metal. I’ve had this in a number of them.

found the B&Q sure plumb version works just as well, fits on the old Drayton valve metalware and hasn’t cracked.

You'll need to replace those valves, as the Hive ones won't screw on those unfortunately, I have the same type. I've still not got around to doing it!

Hello,
Sorry to revive an old thread.

I'm looking to fit Hive trv's on my rads, but the rads are from pre 1700's I think.
Would the screw fix trv bodies in the post above fit my rads?
Any advice would be welcome.
I have shared some photos in the link below.

Thanks,
Mitch.
Does look like they would fit but the pipe looks old and maybe the old 1/2 inch compared to the common 15mm.

Pipe size is same and so is the radiator entry thread size. Your issue is going to be carefully removing (cutting) the male olive and nut off the pipe, that fits the old female valve. Without damaging the pipe.

Oh and it you want reliable TRV's, then fit Altecnic ecocal valves. Very reliable, quiet, and can be used with RF Trv heads.
