Being a reasonably experienced MMO'er I though it was about time I check out eve, so got the trial and my key just wondered if anyone could over me some pearls of wisdom to get me going.

i played EVE about 5 months after it was released, while i did enjoy it i found i couldnt commit enough time to MMOs in general (i just started work/relationships) while in the past i had played MMOs while i was at school and college with no GF or job lol.

it still looks stunning though, i am so out of touch with what is happening though i'd probably get lost even if i did have time again. at one time i would run three accounts, 2 mining and one hauling to make some money.

No point trying it really. EVEs points system is based on actual time and not how long you put into it. So to catch up with the better players would take months (literally!) as some of the lvl 5 skills take 30 days to train!

Yes but a character with 30 mill skill's in industry based skills only will need a PvP'er to help and visa versa. Plus that's only two lines of work to go into. Overall your'll need a good mix of players so it'll never be too late to join really :).

As already stated, get into a good corp, this will help more than anything and second would be to choose what you want to do ingame and then get skills orientated around that task. Don't spread them all over the place, except of course learning skills.

Get your learning skills up as quick as possible as although you will see no change in the items you can use you it'll pay off in the future.

Oh, and whatever anyone says 0.0 isn't a scary place. Go in there in something cheap and cheerful and have a play around.

And remember, if you can't afford to loose it, don't fly it.!

Whats your ingame name?

hardly
EVEs skill system is brilliant for new players as they can get good skills and ships/weapons very quickly now.

I got so fed up with grinding and running instances that I hacked my own hands off and fed them to the dog.
