Trying To Call OverClockers, Dial Up Tone.

If im not wrong, I believe the fax is still one of the most secure ways to send a document as it will be going directly from one fax machine to the other (obviously via the exchange/cab/etc).

Meaning that it's a lot harder to intercept/get ahold of unless you have access to the actual phone line somewhere.

You can also serve legal documents on someone via fax, as you can confirm that it was received. At least in Canada, anyway

Why are faxes still a thing in 2019? We have one at work and in 5 years I've seen one fax.
Because sometimes it's how companies have it specified for certain contacts at a guess;)

It's also more secure than email in theory, and very cheap/easy to maintain given all you need is a fax modem not even a full fax machine, and many business class all in one printers/photocopiers came with fax abilities.

It's like the old imprint machines for card processing, you very very rarely see them these days, but a lot of retailers will still have one in case the phone line goes down - a newly opened opticians near me had to dig it out a year or two back, as we'd gone in to pick up new glasses but their phones/computer was down, the older assistant dug it out (it was still sealed in it's packaging) and demonstrated it to a younger member of staff whilst admitting she'd not used one herself in years ;)
An ancient bit of tech that required zero ongoing costs to maintain as a backup basically meant the opticians was able to continue to take card payments and thus not have to reschedule pick ups for glasses, or turn customers away who didn't carry potentially large amounts of cash.

Obsolete, nearly, but some tech still has it's uses ;)
