Trying to choose provider for iPhone

Vodafone have an agreement with BT to provide wifi so its going to be that part of the WIFI that's limited.

Why are you banning Vodafone staff from posting answers? Doesn't seem very fair?

Considering the only posts ever seen from those posters relate to Vodaphone, and they do not contribute to the community in any other way, I would hazard a guess that would be the basis.

My 3GS was delivered from Vodafone this morning and I've spent a few hours transferring all my stuff from my 2G iPhone across to the new one.

I can confirm that the data across 3G is capped at 1GB per month, that WiFi access using 802.2 through a standard AP is unlimited (and indeed not possible for Vodafone to limit) and the area that may be causing confusion is that with your Vodafone account you get free access to BT OpenZone wifi hotspots throughout the UK - again up to 1GB per month.

I shall be popping into town tomorrow to test the Openzone connectivity at Starbucks or MaccyDees and will report back.

Got an email saying my iphone will be delivered tomorrow (15th).

Shame, as I was expecting it today :(

By video chat I think they mean 3g calling, like other phones have had for years, never caught on and now other manufacturers seem to be dumping the front facing camera. :p

Regards data limits on WiFi, their contracts give you access to the BT Openzone WiFi network and it's data via this that's also included in the 1GB cap. Obviously data transferred via a private WiFi network isn't affected.

As promised - a quick update

Very impressed so far - spent the last few hours playing with it and I've already downloaded and installed 62 apps!

Very smooth, fast and intuitive. The browser is rather nice too

Im a little unsure about going with Vodaphone now with it having a 1GB cap.

At home, it would be rare that I will use the phone on my home WIFI connection. I will however use it a lot when on the move.
