Trying to compress pics enough for Autotrader...

I'm trying to compress some files to under 150kb (autotrader limit), but lightroom won't compress them to anything under 700 or so kb. They are files from a 5D classic so not huge files (10mb ish each).

How can I possibly get them to be smaller files?

Help!

Reduce the resolution of the photos.

1080p or even as low as 1024x768 is still fine for pics like Autotrader. JPEG quality of 85% is normally OK as well.

Crop any particularly noisy bits of the image E.g gravel or trees as they don't compress as well

The most cropped I can get it is 2389 × 1471 whilst still keeping everything in the shot. Am I going to have to reshoot?

Don't crop just resize/rescale the whole image to 1920x1080 or near as whilst maintaining aspect ratio

File -> export -> image size

Don't personally use lightroom, but that is what I could find by googling.

Paint.net is my goto for quick image manipulations

I use irfanview, you can reduce image size whilst maintaining the same ratio.

It's already been said but you can do what you want when exporting from Lightroom.

One of the options is to specify a max image size or you can pick how large (pixel size) you want the image exported instead and have it export it out like that. There's no need to use any other application.

I've tried that, but it says failed as 150k is too small apparently

Similarly I struggle to get 1280 (longest edge) images to less then 500kb in Lightroom.

If you're on a mac trip Imageoptim or if on windows try RIOT.

Short of using a third party program to resize/save at the required JPEG compression levels, you can infact use windows to do it..
