Which it does amazingly well with its black (Well, faded grey stained) plastic bumpers.

heres a new question for you, 1.6i or 1.9 tdi xsara?
not bothered about miles to the galon and the 306 tdi is a great car
[TW]Fox said:Diesel not very good at 0-60 so marginally quicker than it looks on paper.
Smiley Man said:of coursebut the 1.6 picks up fairly well from 70+ so doesnt feel out of place on a motorway (unless you go over 90 then it will fall apart)
Smiley Man said:they are very similar performance wise
Engine Size: 1587 cc
Cylinders: 4
0-60 mph: 11.1 s
Power Output: 90 bhp
Valves: 8
Torque: 100 lb/ft
Top Speed: 114 mph
Engine Size: 1905 cc
Cylinders: 4
0-60 mph: 11.0 s
Power Output: 90 bhp
Valves: 8
Torque: 145 lb/ft
Top Speed: 111 mph
although the 1.6 8v is a sweet engine it drinks fuel so i would probably go for the diesel
edit - thats wierd, xsara 1.6 90bhp 0-60 = 11.1 and it weighs 1078kg, pug 206 1.6 90bhp 0-60 = 11.3 and it weighs 1025kgfunny parkers

I saw his Mondeo suddenly become smaller in my rear view mirror and there seemed to be a dark cloud following him but not sure what that was about![]()
The diesil man will always be at an advantage on the motorway because he is sitting at 3k revs and his engine is ready to give him it's full potential. Us petrolers are sitting at 3k revs and it's just jogging along hence drop to 4th, 4.5k revs and we're off. So an Xantia TD would be faster than a Saxo VTR at 70 on the motorway with both in 5th but drop the Saxo to 4th and it's bye bye Xantia surely???
Not that I condone racing on public roads.![]()
The Saxo VTR will show up some car in straights, but when you hit twisties it's a different animal altogether.
Saxo all the way.....................
Smiley Man said:ive found at 70 its at about 3300rpm so right on the torque, overtaking and getting up to 80 doesnt seem laboured with a jab of the throtle in 5th, will have to try knocking it into 4th though, thats presuming our cars have the same gearboxes![]()
digitalwolf said:Only reason why I dropped back was because I knew his car would have been quite happily to perform at it's max and I was unsure about mine.
If you plant at 70mph it will quite happily pull, but it is capable of doing just under 110mph in 4th.
